400 companies in Germany and Austria prove to be particularly family-friendly this year. For the fifth time, Freundin and kununu award the seal "The most family-friendly employers", and for the first time, Austrian companies are also honored - Nutz GmbH takes first place in the Building & Architecture sector.

Nutz GmbH is one of the TOP 10 most family-friendly companies in Germany within the Building & Architecture sector in 2020. This year the media publication Freundin and the employer rating platform kununu again recognized the compatibility of family and career, a good work-life balance, feel-good factors and equal career opportunities among employers. A new feature this year was the extension of the survey to Austria. In Germany, the TOP 10 from 30 industries were selected and in Austria the TOP 5 from 20 industries.

By awarding the seal, and through comprehensive reporting in the magazine as well as online, Freundin gives its readers an orientation in today's job market and at the same time honors the family-friendly policies of the award-winning companies," says Freundin editor-in-chief Anke Helle. Editor-in-chief Mateja Mögel adds: "Especially in a year like this, it becomes clear how important the value of family-friendliness is for employers to successfully survive even crisis situations. For the companies receiving the award, it is a great sign of appreciation for their employees and demonstrates responsible behavior.

Digitalization means that employees are becoming increasingly flexible - but at the same time they actively demand this flexibility from their employer: home office and flexible working hours, for example, are sought-after benefits that distinguish family-friendly companies. Last but not least, such additional benefits lead to a corporate culture that is characterized by mutual appreciation and a high degree of trust. Employers who focus on modern offers and develop them in dialogue with their employees will be able to prevail in competing for the best talent.

This year, a total, more than 2 million reviews of 200,000 companies in Germany and Austria were included in study, on the basis of which the ranking was compiled. Each of these companies, for which at least one review has been received since January 1, 2020, and which meets the minimum number of 50 reviews on, had a chance of being included in the ranking. Current and former employees from all work groups, industries and career levels primarily evaluated family-friendly benefits such as flexible working hours, childcare and company pension schemes, in addition to the working atmosphere, work-life balance, salary and equal opportunities. Other assessment criteria included supervisor behavior, career/continuing education and salary/benefits. Media companies and companies belonging to the Burda Group were excluded (e.g. Freundin, kununu, XING).
